I have unselected the tickbox in "Remember passwords for sites" option in the Tool -> Options -> Security tab. However, this setting turns back on after I restart firefox and firefox keeps asking me whether I want to save my password.

I never had this problems in my previous versions of Firefox, I would unselect the option and Firefox would never ask to save my passwords.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
