Comcast came out last week to fix problems with their service in my area. They also replaced a splitter inside the house. Since then, I have been unable to open firefox (it won't connect), and I've had to use internet explorer. Never had this problem in all the years that I've used Mozilla. Comcast is refusing to accept any responsibility for the problem on their end. I've checked the control panel and Firefox is the default browser, but it won't connect even from the control panel.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.
