cannot open a new tab
Firefox will not allow me to open a new tab by clicking the + (tab) button or by going to" File" - "new tab". Nothing happens. It still opens them if I click on a link in a web page. This feature has always worked in the past. Why has it suddenly stopped working and how do I get it back? Everything else seems fine.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
- Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
- Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
Firstly try restarting your computer and see if it persists. Also, try running firefox in Safe mode . It should tell you where the problem lies.
A shortcut to open tabs is Ctrl+t
Thank you TonyE. All is working fine now. Such a simple fix, but soooo frustrating when I don't know how to fix it. Many Thanks
