Chosen solution

1) Install "addon compatibility reporter" extension using the link in my original post.

2) To open Addons Manager in Firefox, do one of the following.

  • (If you see the menu bar) Tools -> Addons
  • (If you do not see the menu bar) FirefoxButton -> Addons

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues,

Once it is installed, open Addons Manager and re-enable Google toolbar addon.

Thanks for your reply.

Addons Manager URL: about:addons - this is not a URL / hyperlink.

I tried the following and just no idea what next (just want a Google Toolbar - like I had)

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=google+toolbar&cat=1%2C0&x=29&y=15

Hi,

Sorry if I confused you. I did what you asked i.e.

install from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/

Then followed the steps via addon-manager and was confronted by huge list of Google oriented options.

Following you last response - I did everything again and without any 'enable-ing' the GOOGLE TOOLBAR is now present.

Don't really understand what I have or haven't done but appear to have got where I wanted to be !!

Thanks for your support & patience.

PS It seems to have solved another problem that every time I opened a new tab a YAHOO screen would appear.
