Since upgrading to 5.0 my Mac(10.5.8) is having a java functionality issue with stockcharts.com. I've reloaded the java program from Apple with no success. Next step?

problem began with latest 5.0 software upgrade from Mozilla & Apple w/latest Java update. Tried reloading java from Apple, no success. Problem is on stockcharts.com using java applet to annotate charts. Support@stockcharts just suggested the reload of java. Is there a compatibility issue here?

I am not a Mac user, but I have noticed some comments on this subject, try using Firefox 3.6

I think Apple have removed support for one of the plugins. This is discussed in this contributers thread: Java update 10 for Mac OS X 10.5 no longer supports the Java Plugin2

The simplest workaround for this is to revert to Firefox 3.6, and if it is only the one site you have a problem with consider instead using your current version of firefox for day to day work and install and use Firefox portable 3.6 for stockcharts.com

2nd EDIT simplest solution check Firefox is up to date using help->about firefox-> [Check for Updates]

Edit
if you follow the links you will eventually get to technical discussion between Mozilla & Apple developers on the subject

Further update
Firefox developers have used a workaroud patch, if firefox is up-to-date it should now work.
