I can't open ANY new tabs at all ... the "new tab" tab does not open a new tab, and when I go to "file" and "new tab" nothing happens. I'm using Firefox 3.6.18 on a PC laptop running Windows XP Pro.

This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

Your system details show that toolbar in the user agent as AskTbAD2/3.12.2.16749

Thank you! That apparently was exactly the problem. I didn't even realize that toolbar had been added somehow, until all of a sudden, the "new tab" stopped working. I disabled ASK and it's back to normal. Thanks again.
