how do I **save** tab groups (or import/export them)?
I needed to restart FF5 after installing some add-ons and when FF restarted, I was dismayed to find that my tab groups were gone!
Is there a way to save my tab groups so that I can reload them after restarting FF? it would be better if FF simply "remembers" what tab groups were created and reinstated them after a restart.
I LOVE tab groups as a way to organize all of the myriad tabs I fins myself opening as I venture off on a quest for knowledge. TG's can be made even better if there was a way to save, export, and import them (IMHO).

If you lose Tab Groups or App Tabs on restarting Firefox then those tabs weren't saved in sessionstore.js.
That can happen if Firefox isn't closing properly (Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix) or for other reasons like using Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the browsing history or running Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode.

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox profile folder.
What about the fact that when I restarted FF, I lost the tab groups I had created? I do not want to have to manually restore those groups whenever I have to restart or if I have to kill FF because it locks up or for whatever other reason.
I'll check out the links to which you've referred and see if anything addresses that question (remembering the tab groups).
UPDATE: I looked at the sessionstore.js file and I did see that there is metadata being stored about the tab groups. We'll see the next time I need to restart if the tab groups get properly restored/loaded. I suppose I could manually do a restart and see what happens, but frankly, I'm afraid that the tab groups will not be restored and I'll be very bummed :-(

Thanks. I understand that in the case of a FF crash (or any other crash for that matter) all bets are off :-)
As long as the tab groups get restored when I do a restart (i.e., after installing an add-on), I am happy :-)
Thanks for your help.
I finally found out how to save my tabgroups! :) Simple, you have to choose exit in archive and NOT press the closebutton (X) up in the corner. Simsalabim, all the groups remains!! :D It's simple once you know the answer...

what is "exit in archive"
regardless of what that is - it should be simpler - and I guess it is not rocket science.
they know all about the real "simsalabim"
