I just got a new Dell laptop and downloaded Firefox before I transferred files using Microsoft's Easy Transfer program. Everything transferred fine except my bookmarks and the toolbar. They didn't go into Internet Explorer either.

Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles on your source computer. [where User Name is your documents and settings name] [also to do this you must have activated "show system folder" and "show hidden files and folders"] if you don't know how to do this get help because you are messing with system files and a neophyte might screw things up

open the Profiles folder where you will find a user profile folder like xxxxxxxx.default... open this folder

copy the places.sqlite file to the respective folder on your other computer I say respective folder because it will have a different name on your other computer because this is your default profile folder on your other computer

do this while Firefox is closed

when you open Firefox on your target computer it will look identical to your source computer Firefox
