Each and every time I execute FF V5, it creates a new profile, without my bookmarks, homepage , etc.

Believe this started with FF V5.0 and continues with V5.0.1

You may have security software that is protecting the file profiles.ini and thus preventing Firefox from changing it or the file may be corrupted.

You can try to delete profiles.ini to see if that helps.

Turns out their is a lot of truth in your answer/suggestion.

As I researched the problem, removing FF5.0 in its' entirety, and then downloading V5.0.1, and winding up with the same problems, I suspected something had gone astray. I figured 2 bad downloads is a rare occurrence here, So I went a-searching.

Turns out, in a matter of hours of upgrading to FFV5.0, my Firewall/Security S/W suite also upgraded to V10. I washed V10, and dropped back to V9.x.x.x

My problems with FF5.0.1. vanished. I admit I have a very tight security suite.

Anybody using Zone Alarm Extreme Security Suite, V10, be mindful of the above.

My thanks to FF and Cor-el
