When I upgraded to Firefox 5.0 I had to turn off Compatibility Checking because a few of my Add-Ons were no longer compatible. How do you release an update that isn't compatible with the 2 Major Toolbars??? When it first was released, it wasn't compatible with Yahoo Toolbar either! The other Add-Ons that I need to know about are "Maximum Ad Block", "Page Tweak", and "RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin". I also recently had to disable "Tweak Tube", since when I would go to YouTube the videos would not play at all while the Add-On was enabled. All the other features worked, but the videos did not play. The Pre-Play function worked, but the normal Play did not work until I disabled the Add-On. So, have these issues been worked out with the new Firefox 6.0?

I need Google translate for my work. When Firefox 5.0 didn't work with it, I reinstalled Firefox 3.6.18 which works with it fine but presumably does not have the advantages of Firefox 5.0. Today, 17 August 2011, Firefox automatically "updated" to Version 3.6.20. That would appear to be an update dated 16 August 2011 and it works with the toolbar. A colleague of mine who does not need translate on his machine and who was using Firefox 5.0 was automatically updated today to Firefox 6.0. What I would like to know is: What I am missing out by being on Firefox 3.6.20 instead of Firefox 6.0 and can I be sure that if I use the Firefox compatibility reporter, it will definitely work with Google Translate under Firefox 6.0? I don't really have time to uninstall and reinstall browsers and would be grateful to know whether anyone has any experience of this. Many thanks.

You don't need to backtrack. Just turn off the Add-On Compatibility Checker on Firefox 5.0 Then it will allow the incompatible Add-Ons to continue to run. They will just be labeled as Incompatible! When you bring up the Add-Ons list, the Compatibility Checker will be sitting on the top of the list saying that it needs to be turned on. DO NOT! turn it on!!!
