The setting for a specific number of days to save History was removed from Firefox several versions ago. Why? Too much History was slowing the loading time for Firefox and sometimes making Firefox sluggish.

Current versions automatically determine how much History to save based on your system's resources (RAM, etc.). It is a complex algorithm, and though I have seen some try to experiment with a few settings, the results were generally not very successful.
