I am getting notifications for a Firefox upgrade, but when I attempt to download the upgrade all that happens is a continous message about "Connecting to the update server". It never actually connects.

I get a notification that a Firefox upgrade, to rel 6.02 is available. When I select the option to download the upgrade, I get a message "Connecting to the update server", but it never starts the download.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded
