Cannot get my "log in" button to work for online banking. Stopped working about a week ago. Checked Time Warner Cable and the Bank and they said it's on your end. Can you help?

I have been online banking with TD Bank for years now and have never had a problem getting into the log in. About a week ago when I would click on the log in button, nothing would happen however I can get into every other link on that site. I contacted TD Bank and they said that my account was fine and I was not locked out and there were no security issues. I then called Time Warner and they checked my service and said nothing was wrong with my service and that it sounded like it was from my server since I was going through Firefox, I should call you guys and see if it is the problem.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

This may not apply but I had a similar problem with my banking site. I had recently changed my Firefox settings to Clear Recent History. Unfortunately this wiped out my online banking cookie every time I exited the browser. The bank kept seeing my computer as a "new computer" forcing me to jump through hoops to verify my logon each time. I changed back to my original setting and haven't had a problem since.

Let all cookies expire when you close Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"

Make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"

You can inspect and modify the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences" (Site Preferences includes the cookie exceptions)

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies that have an allow exception.

How did you do change back to your original setting?

more options

Either do not use Clear Recent History to clear data on exit at all or make sure that "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences" are not selected.

See my above post.

I tried what you told me to do and it still isn't working. Help!!

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Clicking that button requires JavaScript to work.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
