When I close Firefox and then try to re-open it I get message that firefox-bin is still running and must be shut down or system must be restarted. Each time I have to go into system monitor/processes and stop firefox-bin in order to re-open Firefox program. How can I remedy this? I am using Ubuntu 10.10 with Firefox v. 3.6.23 Thanks

Try to use File > Quit Firefox to close Firefox.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
