how can I delete the lateral bookmark menu which takes up 1/8 th of my screen?

more options

since some time the firefox page has changed. there is a lateral bookmark menu on the left side. it takes up about 1/8 th of the screen. how can I remove the menu. there are plenty of other ways of getting to my favourites. and it is the more irritating because I am used to start reading from left to right. moreover on the remaining 7/8 th of the screen there is not enough room to show the entite document!

Chosen solution

Sounds that you have opened the Bookmarks sidebar.

You can toggle the Bookmarks sidebar via View > Sidebars > Bookmarks or Ctrl+B

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
