Why does Firefox v 8 automatically push onto v 7.0.1?

Don't think this is a genius level idea... I have numerous issues opening many websites in new v8 so I reverted down to v 7.0.1 which has worked well. Did not last long, as FireFox is now so intent on making sure my computer is up to date, that each time I opened the About Firefox tab, the update to v. 8 started to load automatically.

Remove the push, no automated loading please! I end up with version 8 loaded (maybe), with the main home page of Firefox telling me I am not up to date!
