Ever since that last update patch to FF I have a black screen on almost all web sites. I had to use Explorer just to post this.

I loaded the latest update for fire fox. At first the black screen was only effecting facebook but I turn on myt PC today and every single web site I try I have a black screen. I had to use the old explorer link I keep on my PC just in case some BS like this happens.

Check the default colors and make sure that you allow website colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

I do not know what has happened due to the update, but the web games I play work about half the time. The other half I end up with a black screen. I did what was posted and it did not help.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 and later Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
