Does anyone know how to fix a reoccurring jar file error when trying to search from the address bar?

I keep getting the following error when trying to search from the address bar (even in safe mode FF8.01):

File not found Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/omni.jar!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region/region.propertiesamazon.

I have gone in to fix it multiple times using this solution:

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/801267 Thanks to LoveFX4's search here: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/801219, we have an answer:

In the address bar, type "about:config", without the quotes
   Press the enter key
In the filter window, type "Keyword.url", without the quotes
Double click on the "Value" field, and type in "http://www.google.com/search?q=", without the quotes

The above solution will work for a short period of time and then the issue comes back. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
