Firefox has a Software Update popup advising you to update the software & upon clicking OK, the popup says that it's connecting to the update server/downloading Firefox, however it forever loads & nothing ever happens; does anyone know what is going on?

Firefox's Software Update Popup advises to update the software. Upon clicking OK, the popup changes to "Downloading Firefox" and says it is "connecting to the update server..." and has a bar loading (looks like a sideways blue and white barber's pole). However, the popup stays, nothing ever happens and no progress notification is received.
