I successfully downloaded Flash Player again (the older version is all my eMAC OS 10.4.11 can handle) but I cannot play anything. Is upgrading to 10.5 my only choice?

Every time I try to watch a video or movie, I get a notice telling me to get the new Adobe Flash Player. After trying to download it a number of times and failed, I uninstalled the version that came with OSX (as instructed as some point). That did not work.

I then re-installed the version that I had and am still in the same predicament.

I now even have regular sites (e.g. dictionary) telling me that I need to add plugins. When I click on "add" I am always directed to the Flash Player download.

QuickTime says I don't have the proper plugin but my computer says I have 7.6.4 and there are no problems.

The only plugin that shows (無効 - invalid) is Gecko.

Is it not possible to watch anything in this environment? Do I need to cancel my movie subscriptions?

THANK YOU ideato!

In the past few days I followed those exact same instructions two or three times (beginning with uninstall).

After your comment "are you ..." I decided to search through my HD to see if I could find something else. Then I found the "manager" in a completely unrelated file. I guess my problem was that at one point I had not successfully UN-installed an older version.

Thanks to your patience with me, I was able to be patient with myself.

I'm viewing again. THANKS ^o^

The newest flash player is incompatible with your 10.4 ppc mac, the latest version for your system is 10.1.102.64 :

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html#main_Archived_versions

and you can download it from here(or scroll in the link above):

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html

go to Release and Content Debugger archives and download Flash Player 10.1.102.64 (126 MB).

thank you

Thanks ideato. Yes, 10.1.102.64 is the one I successfully downloaded. Still, I am not able to play anything. I am told to add plugins. I am still told to "get the latest version...".
