Unable to save passwords in Firefox.
I've been using Firefox for a while now and I never had this problem before. I recently formatted my hard-drive and reinstalled everything. I ended up installing a new security program that supposedly saved my passwords "securely". This program was terribly annoying so I uninstalled it. Now, Firefox will not take over saving my passwords. I've made every settings change and update. I've tried to reinstall Firefox. Nothing works. I used Firefox previously and I know it easily saved my passwords, but that program just screwed it up. Even though I've removed it, Firefox no longer will do this function. What else can I do?

Go to your Firefox profile (type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in Win Explorer) and rename signons.sqlite to signons.sqlite.old and key3.db to key3.db.old. Restart Firefox and make a try.
Hi, sorry, where do I type this? You said in Explorer?
In Windows Explorer (to browse the folders) or Windows+R > %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\, it's the same.
Okay, I figured out you meant to type it in search, I'm not sure what explorer is, except for internet explorer and that had me mystified... anyway, in my search I changed the signons.sqlite to signons.sqlite.old but I don't see a key3.db, I only see a key3, so I changed the key3 to key3.db.old. And I restarted Firefox, but it doesn't seem to have done anything.
I mean Windows Explorer, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Explorer
Can you try to restart Firefox in safe mode to see if that helps. If not, try to test with a new Firefox profile.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:
- Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
