Firefox won't open a new tab.

I click the little plus next to my current tab, and a new tab will not open. Tabs also will not open when I go into File and click "New Tab." Firefox worked fine up until yesterday.

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.

There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
