Why is my download disappearing?

I go to download the Minecraft Server, an exe. I select my directory and all seems fine. The download trundles alone.

When it's completed, I get nothing. That is to say, the file is not in the directory I asked for. If I right click on that item in the 'downloads' window, 'open' and 'open containing folder' are greyed out.

I tried downloading the regular Minecraft.exe to the same folder (and others) and that works as expected.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"
