Unable to change the Download location in Preferences

I am unable to change the download location using Preferences in Firefox 9.01. The Choose button is there but when I click on it nothing happens. I cannot delete the entry in the path that shows where the downloads go either. The other user on the MacBook is fine. I've deleted mozilla prefs, internet config prefs, etc. Suggestions?
