I used to be able to type in a site's name and then hit control + enter and .com would populate and the site would load. Never had to put in the https:// before. This do not work anymore. Why Not?

Ctrl+Enter only works if there is a single domain and no longer works with multiple domains.

You can modify the pref keyword.URL on the about:config page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".
