Do I really need both the Java Toolkit and the Java Platform add-ons?

more options

I'm trying to fix the frequent "not responding" issues with Firefox and wondered if it might help to disable some add-ons/plug-ins. Only plug-ins I have are the two Java, Adobe Acrobat, and Shockwave Flash.

Chosen solution

You don't need the Java Toolkit (disable it), but the Java Platform is needed to run Java presentations from the web.
