some web videos don't play, saying "a plugin is needed to display this content". How do I tell WHAT plugin?

Acer Android tablet ... the videos in question play on the default browser that came with the tablet, but not in Firefox. The notice doesn't say what plugin. I have downloaded and installed Flash, but that didn't fix it.

It is most likely the Flash player addon, which is not supported in Firefox for mobile, Yet. Wait for Firefox 11, which will hopefully be released within the next week. It will support Flash.
