I do aol email and use aol as my browser. Sometimes I click on an article or picture and another window opens behind the original and it is an advertisement or on one occasion it was a page that set off my antivirus. It is very annoying! popup blocker does not stop Firefox popups. what's the fix. I have run antivirus scan, spybot and Microsoft security essentials to no avail! What's the fix?

Well it may be you have a virus deeper than those scanners can see.

Please read Pop-up blocker first, to make sure the settings and suggestions there are fine.

To double check your system is clean, do the following (Not official Mozilla advice, just good practice from personal experience)

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Download and Run TDSSKiller http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363

Double check for all Windows Updates.

Also, make sure you update to firefox 11, which does fix several security holes.
