I have now specific knowledge of this subject but there is an official add on

If use of this is exposing a security vulnerability in Hotmail then I think it is Hotmail that should be contacted. It is not my decision to make; but this subject is apparently not a support question; and so probably better discussed elsewhere.

It does appear the addon may be used for purposes not intended, however I imagine a knowledgeable hacker would find it relatively trivial to do anything that could be done with the add on tamper data by several other alternative methods. Also I imagine malicious hacks into a Hotmail account may require interception of or prior knowledge of the password, keeping that safe and using a secure password will help.

Make sure that you use a secure https connection to minimize such a hack.

Also make sure that you do not use a password that can be found via a dictionary look up and never use the same password on different sites.
