The key icon for saving passwords newer appears. Very rarely am I queried if I want to save a password. I have been using RoboForm, but don't care to pay for it any longer. What do I need to do to get the key icon. I am using Firefox 11.0 and Windows XP SE.

I assume that this setting is still OK?

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Remember passwords for sites"

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
