I am running the latest version of Firefox. When I start my computer iin the morning Firefox is gone - the icon is no longer on the desktop, and the program is no longer listed in the program menu. It does not happen on a predictable schedule - sometimes it's a couple weeks between disappearances, sometimes a couple days.

That sounds very odd. Can you still see the firefox folder and program in Program Files? It should be here:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox (on a 32bit windows edition)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox (on a 64 bit windows edition)

Let me know and I'll try to help you out.

Which security software (anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software has virtualization / sandbox features that can cause problems by restoring or removing files.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, yesterday I had to re-install Firefox, so I can't answer your question until it happens again (which, judging by past performance, should only be a few days). I'll let you know.

I am at the U of Minnesota. I checked with our administrator and she said we use Symantec. She hasn't heard of anyone else at the U having this problem.

Ok. Hopefully the reinstall will have done the trick. Post back if it disappears again.
