I am using FF 13 on a Windows XP machine. I keep everything up to date. This problem has been happening for the last 8 months or so through various versions of FF. When my computer starts up I have it open 2 tabs, Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Calendar. The visible tab is the mail tab. I can move around in this tab but if I try to click on the calendar tab or open a new tab the screen won't switch. It just stays on the mail tab. So my computer doesn't freeze up and FF freezes part of the way. If I close FF and reopen it usually solves the problem. Up until the last month I would just have to close it once. Lately it may take 3 attempts to solve the problem.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

hello, maybe one of your extensions is interfering. try launching firefox in safe mode once and see if the problem is occurring there too...

Thanks to both of you. I will try later on today. Seems odd it would work with that extension still enabled or with the same profile after closing and reopening a couple of times.
