Also 32bit nightly works. Just the x64 got broken by the update.
plz i have this problem also
Out of nothing I get the following message whenever I try to open FireFox "microsoft (C) Register Server has stopped working" Internet Explorer won't open either, but it doesn't give a pop-up or anything, it just pretends I didn't open it. The only way I can open a browser now is by running it as 'administrator' I've taken the following steps, none of which have had any effect - Booted in Safe mode, same problem - tried the DEP on trick in windows system - Fully updated win 7 - Fully scanned for viruses - Re-installed Firefox - reboot, reboot, reboot - searched online for solutions
same problem here.. with 64bit win7... safe mode for aurora is working.. internet explorer & google chrome are not working too - but without notification.. only opera is not affected... even so it is very effective knockout (2/3) of biggest rivals :D
downloading of latest version and installing over corrupted version helped.. for me ;)) fast & easy..
update: 16.0a2
update 2: after closing appears same problem again.. only safe mode works.. (after launching safe mode are working the other browsers again.. a bit weird)
update 3: follow this "how to" general fix.. http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/microsoft-register-server-has-stopped-working/ For those of you who are dealing with the issue in 64-bit OS.. you need to follow the above instructions except instead of going to folder:
C:WindowsSystem32
you need to go to:
C:WindowsSysWoW64
and then choose the regsvr32.exe file that's there instead...

all solutions mentioned before were temporary.. after long hours I've found these four "Malware" bastards, try to find them & destroy (delete or use antivirus software or malware scanner)...
4 Files Detected: C:\ProgramData\Windows\msseedir.dll (Trojan.FakeMS) -> quarantine and delete C:\ProgramData\Windows\ccdxmmde.dat (Malware.Trace) -> quarantine and delete C:\ProgramData\Windows\drss.dat (Malware.Trace) -> quarantine and delete C:\ProgramData\Windows\xessmsxe.dat (Malware.Trace) -> quarantine and delete
This made Firefox, Aurora, IE, & Chrome work normally again.

I have this problem but I am not a computer savvy person (i can do simple things) so I find that I am unable to fix certain things. Luckily I have been able to open Firefox in safe mode by clicking the icon a million times so it loads!! Firefox closed whilst I was using it (never done this before) and I couldn't reopen it as I was getting this error message. I am currently running a virus check but not sure if this will fix it!
I really want a FIX that is EASY TO FOLLOW!
I have already reinstalled Firefox but this didnt solve anything. Please respond as I really dont want to reinstall my entire laptop!
Reinstall of entire laptop would help to resolve this issue, but it's not necessary.
The problem is, that you propably do not see the foder c:\ProgramData\Windows, because it is usually hidden with default settings in Windows operating systems.
To show hidden files simply click "Start" and type "show hidden" and windows should search and find option "show hidden files and folders".. click on that option and in the list change the option "don't show hidden files..." to "show hidden files..." and olso search in this list for "hide operating system protected files and folders" and make it unchecked...
Now you should be able to see the files mentioned above (or similar) in folder "c:\ProgramData\Windows" (you can simply copy this path to your explorer navigation pane and hit enter, *without quotation marks)
to make it easier for you, just simply delete everything in this folder, you don't have to worry because it's not created by system, it's spam and unwanted software from internet..
that's it.. hope it will help you ;))
just delete everything in this folder, it is all spam and malware.. ;)) don't worry...
hey guys! I managed to fix it that day! (Thank god) I reinstalled firefox which didnt work ... then I installed anti malware software, and ran checks with this software plus my normal anti virus software. It found no viruses (strange) but then it worked after! Not sure what I did, but it fixed it ;)
