When I click the tab on the AroundHawaii.com page to login to my RR webmail, the page comes up blank. It is apparently accessing the needed websites/scripts and shows the url in the tab, but there are no login/password fields. The url it is accessing is https://webmail.hawaii.rr.com and when I try typing this in the url field, I get the same result. I am running Windows 7 with all the latest updates, including Java. This link works in Chrome and it works on my two other Windows 7 machines in Firefox.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

No joy on clearing the cache. I deleted the cookies for aroundhawaii.com and rr.com as well, but that didn't change anything. I believe this problem started after the most recent Java update, however I also applied that same Java update to at least one of the other two Windows 7 machines I have, and both of them bring up the login page just fine. Judging by the last Windows Updates I installed, each of the 3 machines have slightly different total software packages. I can post a copy of the last updates if you think that will help.

Does the login page come up at all or is it completely empty?

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

The page does come up in a new tab as it normally does but except for the title on the tab and the URL, it is completely blank. It does seem to be getting data as I get the "transferring data" message(s) at the bottom of the screen. I have attached a screen shot of the page.

In case AdBlock is involved, could you try adding an exception for rr.com or disabling it temporarily? (It's not clear from earlier posts whether you already did this by trying Safe Mode, or whether you never tried Safe Mode.)

Took a while to find what I needed, but disabling AdBlock on rr.com does fix the problem. I had tried Safe Mode before, but apparently not properly as when I tried it this time, it also fixed the problem. Disabling AdBlock totally also fixed the problem but I still wonder why my other machines (with Firefox 14 on Windows 7 with AdBlock running) don't have the problem. AdBlock Plus 2.1.1 is what is on each machine although the update dates on all 3 are different: One was updated July 3, this one on July 4 and the 3rd on July 17. Oh well, I can live with ads on rr.com I guess but I still don't think the underlying problem has been fixed (or even identified). This machine now has AdBlock disabled on rr.com only.

Did you check which items were blocked by ABP?

It is likely a problem with one of the filters if content gets blocked.

Sorry, missed this one yesterday. I'm using Fanboy's adblock list, which, as I recall, is kind of the default filter for ABP. The filter list is quite long and I have to admit I have no real idea of which items are being blocked. Comparing this machine to one of my others (where ABP still works on rr.com) it looks to me as though all ads are being blocked. The URL for the list is: https://secure.fanboy.co.nz/fanboy-adblock.txt if that helps.
