Since last update when I open the program all it does is sit in "updating mode", constant circle refresh. And some times it crashes. Nothing on the pages work, can't even close with the red "X" have to close from task bar. Is there a problem or is it my problem?

Hi,

You can consider the Reset Firefox feature via Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information.

(To revert to the previous profile you were using, close the new profile (i.e. exit Firefox), start Firefox and choose the Default User profile. While the Profile Manager is open, you can also delete the newly reset profile (the one containing random numbers), or the former profile, as the case may be). If the reset is okay, it would be a good idea to delete the old profile as otherwise it would be left intact with the previous data until deleted.

Managing profiles

Profiles Howto

If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related files in all the different configuration areas/modules of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization etc. in addition to the main AV/Firewall module. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes. Even otherwise some security software may also ask again when Firefox is started and you can try to allow/trust at that time. Please see this.

If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.

You can also delete active-update.xml and possibly updates.xml (this will clear the update history).
