Did you check via the Language bar with keyboard layout is selected when Firefox has focus or when you try to switch the keyboard layout?

Hi Core-el, In fact I checked of course the language bar. it switches to Japanese and in Japanese mode there is one mode that writes English letters and other modes for Japanese characters. The language bar is stuck with the English mode only and refuses to switch. I am now writing from my home PC and it doesn't have the same problem. It seems that the problem is specific with the work PC only with firefox!!! Thanks for the reply
How do you normally switch to Japanese input mode?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Thank you Core-el for these valuablel links. I will check your suggestion and reply back on Monday. I usually switch to Japanese using Alt+Shift, and in Japanese keyboard I change to Japanese input mode using a specific key in the keyboard. I also can do so from the language bar, however both methods fail in firefox. Thanks again and I will report later the outcome.
Hi Core-el, For unknown reason to me Firefox started writing Japanese again today, so I am happy. Your answers taught me a lot of info that I am sure will be useful for me to confront any future problems with Firefox. Thanks a lot!
