Menu bar has disappeared; Alt key does not show menu bar; right click on search bar shows no view etc
Menu bar has disappeared. Alt key does not bring up the menu bar even temporarily. right clicking on the search bar or the tab bar brings up a menu which has no "view" or "hide" features. Have restarted more than once to no avail. Vista operating system

Hello LRosenthal49, probably Corrupt localstore.rdf file.
thank you
thank you very much. any way I can fix this?
Exit firefox from File > Exit then Open firefox profile folder find localstore.rdf file and delete it.
see the screenshot how looks like the localstore.rdf file
(all the above is in the link in my first relpy, if you like to see it more analytical)
thanks again
thank you very much. Now, once I delete it, how do I replace it with a good copy? It must be necessary.
A new file will be created on start up or when the application first needs to write to the file.
OK, thank you again. I read all the zine articles, but am a little wary of going and deleting files as I am a little out of my depth. (Don't even know how to delete such a file). Do you think it would work to just reload mozilla? I don't mind losing my bookmarks.
As of now, I have no menu of "file" etc and no toolbar at screen bottom. I have been able to restore these things through the mozilla icon in the startup menu but they disappear as soon as I click on anything.
Thank you again.
hello, don't worry to delete the localstore.rdf file, just right-click on mouse and select delete, deleting localstore.rdf will reset to default your customized toolbars, window positions and sizes.
to fix the loss of the file, edit menu see: What happened to the File, Edit, and View menus?
try it !! you can do it ! it is not so difficult !
thanks again
Ta Da! I followed the procedure for resetting Firefox and that restored everything! thank you so much for your info and encouragement!
