I'm not 100% sure what you are trying to accomplish. The Maintenance service will open be started and run when Firefox installs an update, it doesn't run otherwise.

I have many systems that are configured to never install updates. I would like to reconfigured them to install updates automatically using the maintenance service.

First, to use the Maintenance Service make sure your computers have Firefox 13 or higher. Then, on each one, you will have to have the following settings (under Options, Advanced, Update):

  • Automatically Install Updates
  • Use Background Service to Install Updates

The Maintenance Service will only run when Firefox automatically finds an update, and it doesn't do the check for updates task (that is handled by Firefox)

Thanks. How would I script that change?
