Web pages show up some graphics and effects in poor quality, almost as if running 256 colours or something. Flash and Java are up to date. Graphics settings are set on high quality and it's not as if my laptop can't handle it. For example, blizzard.com does not show the lists and buttons as it should. Some objects I can't even see at all except for the text beneath it. The images load, the flash objects load, but it looks shitty.

I tried IE as well as chrome and it's doing the same thing which suggests the problem is a computer setting, but I don't know what!

Are you using Proxy server to access the website?

I wasn't at 1st then I changed to auto detect. Made no difference. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about. And it's not just that site... And here is the link so you can see what it is supposed to look like:

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Yeah, I forgot to add that the plugin update doesn't work. It just says there was an error and that I should try again later. Tried it over a couple of days.

Safe mode didn't help either. Thanks for your help so far though guys.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

I have done/checked all things mentioned and still no good. I have a low quality internet connection at the moment (in the middle of the ocean) so I'll have to wait until I'm home to update all my computer's drivers.

If that doesn't work then I'm drowning my laptop then setting it on fire. lol
