I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, hoping to start over with add-ins. When I reinstalled, I got all my old bookmarks and add-ins!

I checked plugins, found RealPlayer was outdated. I clicked 'UPDATE' which had me reinstall RealPlayer. When done, RealPlayer was still listed as outdated. Thought I could uninstall-reinstall. Backed up bookmarks, uninstalled (checked to remove all customization). Reinstalled, and found all my bookmarks already installed! Couldn't find RealPlayer but it looked like all my old plugins were still there. What happened? Can I get a clean install?

Chosen solution

Uninstalling Firefox won't remove your Bookmarks unless you tell it to remove your private data. You can try a Reset Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.

Also, plugins are external to Firefox (flash, java, etc.) and so you can't remove them from Firefox. But you can disable, which is in practice the same thing.

Thanks, now I understand better about plugins being external. [Still can't figure why reinstalling didn't fix RealPlayer...] And I thought I had checked the box to remove all personal data, but maybe not. Anyway, I'm comfortable now. I appreciate your help!
