You can install one of the Google UK search engines.

Hi Paul, which method of search are you trying to fix:

  • Firefox's search box (the one with the icons to choose your service)
  • Firefox's address bar
  • Add-on search box -- what add-on is it?

The forum detected your Firefox as version 12, which is no longer secure (Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release). Is something holding you back from upgrading from Firefox 12? Please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds.

If Help > About Firefox shows Firefox 20.0.1, you may need to clear the preference that is misreporting your version number. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.

Hi,

To the right of the address bar is a search bar which gives me a choice of search engines: Google is my number 1 choice. When in Spain, if I type a search word in the box and click on the magnifying glass it takes me directly to Google.es and I want to go to Google.uk so that the results are in English. Many apologies for an out of date version of Firefox!!!! By the time you read this the process of updating it will be underway!!! Thanks for the prod. Paul

Hi Paul, there have been a lot of feature changes between Firefox 20 and Firefox 12, so I'm sure you'll have questions about those, too.

I use the en-US version and the default plugin is for google.com. It will redirect when I'm traveling. If your default search plugin also is for google.com, perhaps it would be most convenient to install a search plugin for google.co.uk? Here is a broad selection: http://mycroftproject.com/search-engines.html?name=google+uk

Hi,

Thanks to everyone: you are clever guys. I installed the plug-in for Google UK, selected that as my preference from the drop down list and problem solved. I'll be back with any problems on Firefox 20. Thanks again guys.
