How toget rid of the Ask Toolbar that came with my Java download
I had to download Java yesterday, and the nasty Ask Toolbar (I don't like ASK) came along with it. I can not figure out how to get rid of it. I even tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox, but event that did not work. Thanks!

There are other things that may need your attention.
Your System Details List shows the presence of a user.js file in the profile folder.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so it shouldn't be there.
You may want to check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read on every start of Firefox and preferences set via this file will be set to the value specified in user.js on every start of Firefox and can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

Hi. Thanks so much for your reply. I'm not completely new to the Internet, etc., but this situation that you are describing is a bit beyond where I am at in my understanding of all this so far.
First, I may have uninstalled/re-installed my Mozilla Firfox since you replied to me. Not exactly sure. (I've done a lot of things here this weekend.) So maybe this has been taken care of.
I did try to locate the user.js file, but not exactly sure how to do this. I'm pretty sure I did not create this file. And if I did find it I wouldn't know how to check its contents. Don't even know what a plain text editor is. Sorry about that. Not exactly sure how to proceed here...
Thanks!
Thanks. I did this.
