Some websites show up with the home page picture and some do not.

'''Some websites show up with the home page picture and some do not.'''

Chosen solution

Pages that send a no-store or no-cache header (Tools > Page Info > General) aren't cached and thus Firefox does not generate a thumbnail (Bug #754608). Also you won't get a thumbnail if there is a secure connection (https) used.
