my bookmarks were saved to my new laptop but when I added Firefox the bookmarks are not here; how do I get them out of the folder and into the firefox page?

just what I said. my old laptop screen shorted - My tech support (who are closed right now) transferred all information from old laptop to new laptop - there is a recovery folder that, I think, has the old bookmarks. When I added firefox to the new laptop the bookmarks don't come up.

Can you search in your recovery folder for a folder named bookmarkbackups? It should contain files with names similar to:

bookmarks-2013-08-11.json

Assuming you find these files, this article describes how to restore them to your new installation of Firefox: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer. Please note that the restore feature replaces any bookmarks you might have added to your new installation. If you need to keep those, you can do an export/import through the HTML format. This post has the steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/966986#answer-463938.

Edit: Apologies for the typo in bookmarkbackups.
