With Firefox 24, sign-on ID and Password were automatically filled-in. With Firefox 26.0, this no longer happens although password memory is enabled. What to do?

Neither the ID nor the password appear on one site but both did appear with Firefox 24. I have an iMac with OS X version 10.9 (Mavericks, which is also newly installed).

Note that you are currently running a Firefox 26.0 beta release and not the current Firefox 25.0 release.

You can find the full version of the latest Firefox 25.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

Do you still see names and passwords in the Password Manager?

Hi ervalleaks,

Thank you for contacting Mozilla support. I am sorry to hear that the ID and password on some sites are not showing up anymore when you updated Firefox to version 26 from version 24. If they do not show up automatically most likely the issue is with the profile.

The friendliest way to find the old profile is with the Manager: http://mzl.la/LL5Dxl

If you have saved the previous profile you will need these two files to restore the saved username and password from the old profile:

key3.db - This file stores your key database for your passwords. To transfer saved passwords, you must copy this file along with the following file.
   signons.sqlite - Saved passwords.

However, one way to check if the profile is there is found http://mzl.la/NYhKHH This will help restore an old profile in the new version you currently have installed: [http://mzl.la/LOAFED]

If you have any other questions I am happy to help.

Hi RMCGUIGAN,

Thanks for your note. Unfortunately, when I clicked on the first two links that you provided, I got a page that siad, Something's Wrong Here...Bittly couldn't find a link for the Bittly URL you clicked.

I went to the third link, but it led me to tings that are probably a bit over my head, technically.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks again,

ervalleaks

Do you have this problem on all sites, or just particular sites? Some sites try hard to block this feature. For example, on Yahoo, some users have reported having to click around to different fields in order to get the password manager to fill them in.

Sorry about that, I fixed the links, and jscher question will definitely helps us further troubleshoot this issue. The username and password will be there if you also in the past allowed the browser to remember the credentials to a particular site.

Thanks for your note.

So far I have only had this problem on one site (that I have noticed). Before upgrading to Firefox 26.0, however, the ID and password were automatically entered (with Firefox 24)

Thanks again

Thanks for trying but I got the same result from both links. I answered jscher question, above.

Can you confirm that the login is still saved?

Firefox menu > Preferences > Security > "Saved Passwords"

You could try deleting the saved login and saving it again -- if it can be saved again; some sites try to block that as well.

cor-el,

Thanks a lot for your help. I decided to open door #1 and install Firefox 25.0 and the problem has disappeared.

But, just for your information, the name and password was in the password manager with 26.0 beta and I was not in permanent private browsing mode.

But, now things are working again so I am a happy camper.

Thanks again.
