I downloaded the update for 25.0.1 and ran it. Instead of rebooting I shut down the laptop (Vista Home SP2, 64 bit). When I booted the laptop again I tried to open Firefox but Norton Internet Security File Insight could not verify the updater as a trusted file and did not allow Firefox to open. I tried to turn off File Insight but got the same results. I ran Live Update to update Norton Internet Security, and then tried to open Firefox again. This time Norton Internet Security displayed a message saying that updater.exe was unsafe and been deleted. When I try to open Firefox, Norton now detects Updater 25.0.0.5046, says it's trusted, but Firefox does not open. I want to save the history if possible. How can I get Firefox to work again with the history saved? Thank you!

Hi iamjayakumars - I was not able to create a new profile because profile manager would not open. A Norton message would appear "Updater.exe is safe." but nothing else would happen. But - the links you sent were very helpful, and I was able to solve the problem by doing a un-installing and then re-installing Firefox: 1. Backing up the profile. 2. Downloading the Firefox installer from Mozilla.org with another browser. 3. Un-installing Firefox from the Control Panel (making sure "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" was NOT selected. 4. Re-installing Firefox. Firefox started up correctly with all my old settings and all the tabs I had open the last time it was used appeared as I had hoped. Thanks very much for your help!
