I just lost everything in bookmarks and history since the last update a couple days ago. Tried some of the tips but I'm not able to fix it.

Sorry to hear about your bad update experience.

By any chance did you find a folder on your desktop named Old Firefox Data? That folder is created by the Reset feature, and in rare circumstances, Firefox might perform a Reset on its own.

Yah I got this folder but the save in it is from the day after the upgrade and it doesn't have the old bookmarks..

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Firefox keeps ten JSON bookmark backups in the bookmarkbackups in the Firefox profile folder.

If you use the Time Machine on your Mac then you can also there look for an older copy of the places.sqlite file.
