pdf files not loading
I have some PDF files that are not loading. I am loading them from a PDF file, and the links are a full path to the file. Open: http://www.starkhealth.org/nursing/reproductive.pdf. At the bottom, you can click on any 4 of the links. The pages load into a blank screen and appear to be loading but nothing happens.
Also I have some PDF files that contain external links to other sites. Some work and some do not. That is really strange!
The files/links that I am referring to work fine in IE.
Any help would be appreciated. I have always loved Firefox, but recently I am seeing that IE seems to work across the board much better. But, the bottom line I still need Firefox to be able to navigate my site.

It looks as that the built-in PDF Viewer isn't capable to handle these PDF files from Microsoft® Office Publisher 2007 and display their content.
You could try to disable the optimization and try other settings for generating these linked files as the main reproductive.pdf works, but the linked files fail with the built-in PDF Viewer even when first saved to disk.
So it looks that currently the only way to deal with this would be to advice visitors to use another PDF Viewer like the Adobe Reader.
I do believe these files were generated using Publisher. Good point. So, if the files were created using something other than Publisher (maybe Word), then converted, do you think that would fix the problem? Maybe a design program like Photoshop, then converted to PDF would solve the problem.
Now could you explain what you mean about disabling Optimization? Where would I do that?
I did not create the files, as they were sent to me from my client. I have even tried saving the PDF as an image and making it into a HTML file, then hot link the files. Same results.
i have tried all the other browsers and they do not have any problems at all. That is what is so strange about all of this.
When I try to select another program to read the files, it only gives me Adobe Acrobat, not Reader. And to have the general public have to adjust their browser to read the files, would not be acceptable. The only thing I could do would put a disclaimer on the front page to tell viewers to use another browser. I'll bet my client would LOVE that!

The Firefox PDF Viewer still has a lot of bugs and a lot of work needs to be done to make it work with all PDF files.
Did you try to open the PDF files in a capable PDF editor to see if you could re-save the files?
The only way to make sure that they work in Firefox would be to open them in Firefox via Firefox > Open Tab > Open File or by dragging the file in a Firefox window.

Thanks for your information. Hopefully someone at Mozilla will see the need to debug the PDF viewer. I can't be the only one having a problem.
I did find a way that works. I created a PDF from MS Word, not Publisher. So from the first page, I am able to open the MS Word>PDF file just fine.
My guess is that in the past, my client has, for the most part, used Publisher to create PDF files. Maybe sometimes MS Word. I will have to talk it over with her.

Maybe your client can create a test PDF file with this issue.
Then you can file a bug report and attach that test file to the bug.

In looking at the number of bugs listed, wow, the pdf viewer sure has a lot of people upset. What is troubling is the number of issues, and no resolves. One would think they should be giving this some high priority given how popular PDF files are currently.
