How to enable Scrolling backward and forward or up and down when viewing expanded messages

When viewing messages to get to the next or previous one it is necessary to go back to the list. Now if a search for a phrase is enabled this function appears (page bottom) for that search but not otherwise.

right click the toolbar, select customise Drag the new and previous arrows to the toolbar, the next and previous unread might also be useful.
