when scrolling thru web content, screen jumps back to first page after a few seconds, how to fix this?
This problem just happened while looking through the Mozillza support site.
while scrolling (two finger or with scroll bar) , after a few,(3-5) seconds, the display jumps to the top of the page.
I usually only have one site open at a time and this was the case during this most recent occurrence. Please couch answers in simplest terms as I am old and unaccustomed to techspeak. Thanks!

In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Flash and other plugins still run)
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)
Any difference?

It's the same page -- Firefox isn't going "back" -- but instead of being where you were in the page, Firefox returns to the top?
If the page hasn't finished loading first, before you start scrolling, perhaps a script in the page is doing that. In that case, you would expect it to be pretty consistent/repeatable.
If the page was fully loaded before you scrolled, hmm, maybe something odd/incompatible with the touchpad or Firefox's interpretation of the gestures. Not sure.
Yes, it jumps to the top of the page. I may have been unclear in my orig post.
This problem is new, however,if it is related to a partially loaded page as you suggest, then where should I look for a slow loading problem? Since it happens with several different pages from a myriad of sites, my old lizard brain wants to exclude a fault in the page.Y/N?
The loading whirligig has stopped when this issue occurs. Again this behavior is new. If it occurs with the scroll barand the touchpad gestures, doesn't that rule out Firefox's interpretation of the gestures? Thanks for listening

Yes, thank you that 'restart with add-ons Disabled' thing has stopped the problem. I'm not sure what all was disabled but I'll wait and see if I miss any thing. Chalk up another problem solved and thanks a million. DVHart(sr)
Hi dvhartsr, apologies for the delay in getting back to you. You probably will slip out of safe mode and back into normal mode eventually, so you probably will want to review your extensions and disable/remove the unnecessary/unwanted ones.
You can open the Add-ons page using Tools > Add-ons, and in the left column, click Extensions. Beware of innocent sounding names; be ruthless with anything you don't know to be useful.
